Biggest cons for me about this place: - Was told I couldn't be seated until my entire party arrived, despite the place being almost empty (see photo of the dining area) I was starving and would've ordered my food while waiting. - Happy hour pricing is mostly the same prices as normal sushi places. The rolls are good, but no better than other good sushi spots that charge more reasonable prices. - Some of the apps were flavorless, for example the shishito peppers and edamame. Couldn't even taste salt, just grilled. Thankfully I had my gyoza sauce so I just dipped them in that to add some flavor. - The normal dinner prices are outrageous. Way higher than what the plethora of other great sushi spots in the area charge for exactly the same thing. Its just on a nicer plate. - Not very gluten-free friendly. The server had no idea what on the menu was gluten free, nothing was marked on the menu, and they didn't offer to ask the chef. - Something we didn't order was included on our final bill. We had to ask for it to be removed. I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but still annoying as I almost didn't notice it. Pros: - Easy to walk to from BART. - Main rolls/meals and drinks are good. - There is a small parking garage to make up for the tiny parking lot.

This sushi place is by far one of my favorites. The food was fresh and quite exquisite. We got shrimp ceviche, spicy crunchy rainbow, spicy tuna roll and mixed hosomaki. The grilled edamame was exceptional and the lychee martini to die for. Highly recommend!

I sat at the Bar, and the bartender was friendly and chatty. The Beer menu was quite good for a Japanese place imo. The Food was excellent. I got a Teriyaki Beef Plate, and a Spicy Tuna Handroll. Both were great and I plan to go back. it ain't cheap though.

We decided to visit Amakara for our late Father’s Day since we didn’t have time to go anywhere yesterday. I am quite surprised that the place isn’t that big for a modern environment. I went around and thought that there’s going to be more room but it’s not what I expected. Also am surprised that it’s that many people on Monday but I guess they’re celebrating late Father’s Day too? Anyways, the food is really delicious and quality is tremendous. Very upscale honestly especially with how big the portion sizes are. I individually got Chicken Katsudon and it’s not really hard. Very chewy and I couldn’t finish it since I ate a lot of sushi before it arrived. My sister didn’t even finish her individual plate too and so we ended up taking them to go. What shocked me is that they serve us a huge portion of desserts especially the green tea ice cream. I thought that it’s only going to be one scoop but they gave us 3! I think the one scoop is for someone’s birthday? I don’t know. And the vanilla ice cream with grilled pineapple is so yummy and it had a lot of cinnamon flavor I believe. It’s one of the best vanilla ice creams I’d ever had. I probably never tasted vanilla ice cream that good before! I also appreciate the staff for helping with us with our orders! They were so helpful and kind to us. If I ever bring my friends over, it’d be this place. I highly recommend for others to try this place because the food here is really amazing!

The sushi here was spectacular. We tried 5 different rolls we had never tried and each one just kept getting better and better. The sushi tasted super fresh and the flavours were so well done. Would definitely come back here again and highly recommend if you are in the area!
