Lobby and everything are upkept beautifully but the rooms are ran through. Our room also wasn’t vacuumed on arrival and the walls were pretty dirty. I did ask for them to have someone come through and clean and they were very apologetic. Staff were very friendly. Overall they definitely need be cleaning the rooms as well as they are cleaning the outside. Also definitely need new flooring in the bed rooms. The carpet was disgusting. The location was highly convenient which is probably why they get away with the pricing.

This marks our second stay at the Hotel Atwater. The location, right in the center of Avalon, is hard to beat. The exterior and lobby areas look nice and were renovated relatively recently. Our room (classic king) was OK, but not great. Cleanliness was excellent, but the view was terrible! It looked right at a cramped corridor between the two parts of the building -- absolutely no scenery whatsoever. This was a huge letdown, especially given that there is no mention of how variable the room views are when you reserve online. You just have to cross your fingers you are lucky when you check in. They really need to fix this. Rooms with no views like ours should not be priced the same as rooms with views! Other things to note were the spotty WIFI that kept dropping, high noise levels in the room (old hotel), and the front desk agents who seemed somewhat indifferent and annoyed. All things considered, I don't feel the value is quite there. We paid $450/night with taxes + fees, and the issues mentioned above put me off a bit. The most annoying issue is not knowing what your view will be like until check in. The website needs to be more clear about this.

Hotel Atwater is in a lovely location, and the staff are great. The room itself was nice and had a large bathroom and comfortable linens. That said: - This hotel is old. It was fairly recently renovated, but it does show its age, especially in the amount of noise from foot traffic from our upstairs neighbours. Recommend staying on the top floor if you can. - Many of the carpets in the hotel need to be shampooed. The runners in the main hall were dirty and stained. The carpet in our room was compacted, stained, and dirty. Not the best to walk around on barefoot, which I expect to be able to do in my hotel room. - I stayed on a Saturday night and it was around $450 for a double queen room. I understand that I was paying to be in the heart of Avalon on a Saturday, but for that price, I would have expected at least top-tier cleanliness, if not more amenities.

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Atwater! I recently stayed at Hotel Atwater for two nights with my sister during her visit, and we couldn't be happier with our choice! The hotel is conveniently located in town, surrounded by a variety of restaurants and golf cart rentals, making it easy to explore the island. We loved taking leisurely strolls to enjoy the beautiful views nearby. The atmosphere is peaceful and the hotel itself is clean and well-maintained. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, enhancing our overall experience. If you're looking for a convenient and enjoyable stay, I highly recommend Hotel Atwater!

My stay at the Hotel Atwater was absolutely wonderful from start to finish! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed the moment we arrived. I was so happy and grateful for the early check-in, which made our trip even more relaxing and enjoyable. Every employee greeted us with genuine smiles, kindness, and amazing customer service throughout our stay. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had such a warm atmosphere that truly made us feel at home while enjoying Catalina Island. Thank you to the entire team for making our experience so memorable. We truly appreciated all the hospitality and positive energy.
