I've been to a number of yoga and Pilates studios over the years, but never have I gone to a first session where *no one introduced themselves.* You might think I mean the students were unfriendly. No. I mean not even the teacher introduced herself to the class/me. I mean that I was checked in, asked if I had ever taken that specific class before (nope), and told where the prop room was. I had to ask where to put my shoes, then wasn't told where to put my purse/other items and only figured out their system when the other students arrived. Do you expect modifications for poses in a "Perfect for those seeking conscious relaxation. All ages, levels, and abilities welcome. No yoga experience required" class? Well the instructor did give some, but that's only helpful when they tell you which ones are harder. Which they did maybe 50% of the time. Thankfully I have enough knowledge of my own body and its limitations to make the appropriate modifications, but wow. I picked up their 3 class intro package but am going to have to sit with if it's even worth it to me to attend more of their classes. Because as it stands I'd get a better experience using YouTube videos in my living room. Btw. Looking up the instructor on their schedule it was Aviva Levine "Co-Creator and Creative Director of Breathing Room Alameda and Founder of Breathe In Love Retreats."

My favorite yoga studio in Alameda! I have tried several different classes and truly enjoyed every single of them. The instructors all did a very good job explaining the poses and will help you adjust yours if needed. The studio is also very spacious which I really appreciate. I could focus on my breathing and flow throughout the entire class instead of getting distracted by stuffiness in the room as in some other studios. Their pricing is also very decent. Recommend for anyone looking for a yoga studio in Alameda/Oakland area!

This studio has really helped my pain and sciatica. The community is so welcoming and I’m obsessed with the plants.

The Breathing Room has become my home away from home. Having taken classes at many other studios over the years, this one is, by far, the most welcoming and respectful of individual needs. With a wide variety of classes, teachers and disciplines, there’s something for every yogi regardless of experience and desires. A beautiful space to practice yoga and mindfulness!

Breathing Room is a gem! The instructors are very knowledgeable and make everyone feel welcome, whether you’re new to yoga or experienced. The atmosphere is calming, and I’ve noticed improvements in both my physical and mental well-being since joining. It’s more than just a yoga studio—it’s a wonderful community. Highly recommend!
