It an incredible place to stay at if, you like the Wilderness, Trains and Camping. My wife and I stayed here for 3 days and we didn't have enough of it. You get a view of Castle Crags, night with the constellations, moon light walking and your right next to Sacramento river and you can get in it!! If you dont want to get in the river they have a swimming pool. The dinner train is by far one of the most awesoness places to eat at, they also have a patio to enjoy the outdoor scenery. It's really beautiful. I highly recommend it to anyone who has never experienced something like this! Yes I would come back again.

This is such a beautiful place! Being able to stay in a train caboose and eat in a dinning car is so nostalgic. It is fun for kids and adults kids too. The views of the Castle Crags just take your breath away. The only thing that I would like to have seen is more light weight chairs on the lawn so you can turn them to face the crags while you relax and watch the sun rise on them.

What a gorgeous spot! We camped two nights in the campground, ate at the Railcar restaurant (once for dinner and once for breakfast) and swam in the pool twice. This is a great resort for families, with the playground and pool, plus games and a gift shop. When we arrived at camp, we were assigned a different site than I'd originally booked on the phone (we were at spot 16). It turned out to be fine, just not quite as level a tent pad as ideal. Short walk to the bathrooms, game room, and laundry. Bathrooms were reasonably well maintained but not super clean (women's much cleaner than the men's, according my kids) - this is why I'm not rating 5 stars. Showers were warm but the stalls were small and not super clean. Screens on the windows were damaged, so bugs could get in easily. Toilets stalls were mostly stocked with TP (just once I was caught without). Change machine in the game room didn't work, so we could only play the free games and the game that took dollar bills. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful. Our neighbors left out some food overnight and their site was ransacked. The hosts thought it was a bear, and reported bears often go through the grounds looking for food left out, checking the dumpsters, or rooting around by the restaurant at night! Lots of bees at camp, especially when we were cooking. The pool was awesome during the heat wave. Water was about 75F. No showers or bathrooms by the pool (at least that I could see), and it's about a 10 minute walk back to the campground. Playground and dog park between the campground and the railcars. Our restaurant was mixed (3/5 stars). I had really high expectations from the reviews, but found the service to be only fair - overall really slow, taking 15 minutes to check us in for our reservation, not taking our order for another 15 minutes or so. They were out of several items on the menu. Food was good, but I was not blown away by anything. It is super fun to eat in an old railcar though! Neat photos on the walls and great views of the park from our table. Live music on Friday night was excellent!

Such an interesting and fun hotel. Stayed here with my wife and two boys. The place was perfect. The rooms are unique and fun. The pool and spa were clean. The river is right there, and there is a playground for the kids. What more do you want. We'll they also have a dinning car on site. The food looked amazing, I don't know how it was, but the bartender made a great maple old fassion. Would definitely stay here again in Dunsmuir.

Very unique experience. And the restaraunt was outstanding. Good eating experience. Very accommodating I brought a bottle at an out side store for before dinner sipping outside at the Adirondack chairs and they opened it for me and allowed us to finish it when we came back for dinner.
