I've been going to Franklin's for years for oil change and smog. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. I do not trust this place and they have bad customer service. There was a loose bolt on the control arm after I just paid them a lot to replace the front control arms. I was sure it was a loose connection that was causing progressively worsening creaking on the front. Sure enough, it was a bolt they left loose on install. Dangerous oversight. I went in to pick up my vehicle, wanted to grab my keys and get out of there. PJ had my papers and said, let me check on something. I said, "Oh, there shouldn't be a cost." He, out of the blue, went on a tirade, and berated me, "I'm just trying to ask my coworker something. Can I ask my coworker something? Is that okay with you? Will you let me ask my coworker something? Is that alright with you?" I looked at him and said, "You can do whatever you like." Totally bizarre interaction. Maybe PJ was having a bad day. But it is not okay to take that out on your customers. Plenty of other mechanics around.

Dennis was a very helpful mechanic. Very knowledgeable. Expect to pay a premium. Before getting smog done I recommend finding somewhere that can test the codes for you first.

Got a smog check, failed because I recently changed my battery and not all the monitoring indicators were back on. They charged me $60 or $70. No free retries for failed smogs. I asked if next time they would test my monitoring indicators for free before I waste my money and fail a smog. They said no and that testing your monitoring indicators would cost as much as a smog. I found several places in Eureka that would test your indicators for free. For that I will never come back to this place because they are money hungry crooks and chances are you could find a better place in eureka to work on your car for cheaper.

These guys were fantastic to talk to on the phone and to give me an appointment for a smog check. Super easy and friendly and incredibly professional. The price was quite fair and it got done even faster than the approximate 20 minutes. Fantastic service place.

If I could give this place zero Stars I would about 6 months ago I called to see if they could do a oil change for a 23 ft RV I went in person to schedule said oil change I was wearing a mask I explained at the time of scheduling that my wife and I had previously had covidbut was no longer contagious was wearing the mask as a precaution because I have pre-existing long issues on the day of my oil change which happened to be the day we had planned on traveling so we had our cat and all of our belongings inside the RV I pulled up to Franklin's ask them if they wanted me to just pull it into the bay to get the oil changed the guy told me it was illegal which is BS said they had to do it I told him I didn't feel comfortable with it and ask them if they could just do the oil change out back because of the size of the RV they wouldn't be able to put it on a rack anyways he said they would pull it into the repair of a they like to vacuum around the seeds and things like that I told him I didn't want any of that done I just simply wanted it straightforward or oil change that I had my cat inside a lot of cash and I didn't want anyone in the vehicle he said well we don't want to service your vehicle because you have covid I said even if I did have covid still if I pull it into the repair Bay all you have to do is pop the hood and crawl underneath you're not going to be inside the car we have mask on they refuse to do the oil change wasting my entire day
