Union City Plans 25th Anniversary Memorial for Flight 93
Union City will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11 with a service honoring United Airlines Flight 93 passengers.

Union City officials have scheduled a public remembrance ceremony for Friday, September 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The service will take place at 10 a.m. at Sugar Mill Landing Park, located at the intersection of Alvarado-Niles Road and Dyer Street.
The park is home to a dedicated permanent monument featuring 40 granite stones inscribed with the names of the passengers and flight crew who perished aboard San Francisco-bound United Flight 93 after resisting hijackers. Completed in December 2007, the park tribute was established several years prior to the national memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The annual gathering provides Tri-City community members an opportunity to reflect on the bravery of those on board whose intervention kept the hijacked aircraft from reaching the nation's capital. Local leaders and residents will gather at the circle of remembrance to lay flowers and observe moments of silence.
