Two Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash at East Palo Alto Intersection
A morning collision involving seven vehicles near Bay Road and University Avenue left two people dead and several others injured.
Two people died and several others sustained injuries Tuesday morning following a collision involving seven vehicles near the intersection of Bay Road and University Avenue in East Palo Alto.
According to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, a minivan collided with six other vehicles, including a SamTrans Ride Plus public transit van, before coming to a stop. The male driver of the minivan died at the scene, and an adult female passenger died after being taken to a local hospital.
The crash closed the busy intersection for approximately four hours while emergency responders cleared the scene and investigators inspected the roadway. Authorities confirmed that three other motorists suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
