Two Citrus Heights Advisory Members Launch Bids for San Juan Water Board
Two members of the Citrus Heights Water District advisory group are competing for seats on the regional San Juan Water District board.

Local water governance is seeing fresh interest from neighborhood leaders, as two members of the Citrus Heights Water District Customer Advisory Committee step forward as candidates for the San Juan Water District Board of Directors in the upcoming November election.
Three of the board's five geographic seats are up for grabs this cycle. In Division 1, advisory committee Vice Chair Michael Nishimura is challenging incumbent George Machado, a former district employee who was appointed to the post in 2025. Meanwhile, advisory committee Chair Andrew Johnson has entered the race for another seat, bringing local utility committee experience to the regional race.
San Juan Water District delivers wholesale and retail supply across Citrus Heights and neighboring communities in Sacramento and Placer counties. The agency shifted from at-large voting to division-based seats two years ago, meaning voters in each zone will select candidates who live within their neighborhood borders to serve four-year terms.
