Sheriff Releases Video Footage from July Interstate 80 Shooting

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office released body-worn camera footage detailing an officer-involved shooting that took place on Interstate 80 in Citrus Heights on July 5. The incident followed a vehicle pursuit of a suspect wanted in connection with domestic violence and vehicle theft.

According to officials, the chase concluded on the freeway just west of Antelope Road when the vehicle turned against traffic. Five deputies discharged their firearms after the driver allegedly pointed a handgun toward law enforcement personnel.

The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the highway shooting, alongside reviews by the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau and the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.
