Sacramento Metro Fire Proposes Modern Two-Story Rebuild for Station 23
Plans submitted to Citrus Heights outline a complete replacement of the aging Greenback Lane fire station.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District has submitted plans to demolish and rebuild Fire Station 23, located at 6421 Greenback Lane. The existing single-story station, built more than sixty years ago, would be replaced by a larger, modern two-story facility designed to meet updated emergency operational standards.
The proposed 19,500-square-foot facility includes five apparatus bays on the ground floor along with upgraded living quarters on the upper level capable of housing up to fifteen personnel. Site plans also incorporate administrative offices, a covered fuel island, an emergency backup generator, and improved public accessibility.
The application is currently undergoing review by the Citrus Heights Planning Commission. If approved, the new station will expand capacity and streamline emergency response times across the central Citrus Heights corridor.
