Residents Urge Menlo Park Leaders to Reject Willow Road Skyscraper
A neighborhood coalition is pressing the City Council to resist developer deadlines and demand environmental studies for 80 Willow Road.
A local advocacy group called Menlo Forward is organizing community members to speak out against a major high-rise development proposed at 80 Willow Road, formerly the headquarters of Sunset Magazine. The proposal features three towers reaching up to 461 feet tall, which would accommodate 665 residential units along with hotel accommodations, corporate offices, and a preschool facility.
The project developer has stated that Menlo Park must approve the development by late October under state builder's remedy guidelines and guidance from state legal authorities. However, neighborhood residents are urging city officials to hold firm, arguing that a development of this scale requires complete environmental impact reports before any approvals move forward.
