Police Investigate Fatal Assault Outside East Palo Alto Market
East Palo Alto police arrested a suspect following a physical confrontation on University Avenue that resulted in a man's death.
Police in East Palo Alto are investigating a fatal altercation that occurred Thursday afternoon along the 2300 block of University Avenue. Officers were initially dispatched to the commercial area following reports of an individual behaving erratically in the street before discovering an injured 52-year-old Menlo Park resident nearby.
Emergency personnel transported the victim to Stanford Hospital with severe trauma, where he later died from his injuries. Law enforcement officers took a male suspect into custody at the scene without further incident. Investigators reported that no weapons were used during the dispute, and authorities stated there is no broader danger to the surrounding neighborhood.
