Plan Submitted to Reopen Long-Vacant Gas Station on Auburn Boulevard
A property owner has filed plans with the city to reactivate an old service station near Rusch Park.

A new proposal submitted to the City of Citrus Heights could bring a long-shuttered gas station back into operation at the corner of Auburn Boulevard and Watson Way. The site, situated across from Rusch Park, has sat idle for years and was previously approved for a drive-thru pizza shop that never moved forward.
The new owner has applied for a conditional use permit to restore service station operations at the location. City planning documents indicate that the current building footprint will remain unchanged, with plans focusing on site cleanup, repainting, and modern equipment upgrades.
If approved by city planners, the station would operate daily from 5 a.m. to midnight. The proposal is currently under administrative review by the city's planning division.
