Mystery Airship Spotted Over Bay Traced to Mountain View Base
Commuters spotted a massive unmarked airship drifting across the Bay that originated from Moffett Field.
South Bay commuters got a rare view earlier this week when an unmarked white airship was seen flying over the southern end of the San Francisco Bay. The low-flying vessel drew widespread curiosity from drivers crossing local bridges and trails along the Peninsula shoreline.
The craft was identified as the Pathfinder 1, an experimental rigid airship developed by aeronautics company LTA Research. The company operates out of historic Hangar 2 at Moffett Field in Mountain View, continuing a long tradition of lighter-than-air aviation in the local airspace.
