Mountain View Whisman District Targets Up to $8.5 Million in Budget Cuts
Confronted by slowing local property tax revenue, school administrators recommended another significant round of budget reductions.

The Mountain View Whisman School District is preparing for another difficult financial cycle, with district administrators advising trustees to plan for between $8 million and $8.5 million in spending reductions. The guidance follows $7.4 million in reductions already authorized by the board earlier this year.
District revenue growth has slowed markedly because local assessed property values, which generate the vast majority of operating funds, are increasing at a much lower pace than in past years. District leaders warned that rising operational costs and state program mandates will require trustees to evaluate staffing and program structures over the coming months.
