Milpitas Woman Charged in Fatal Vehicular Attack Near Dixon Landing

A 32-year-old Milpitas woman has been arrested and charged following a fatal collision near the southern edge of Fremont on Friday, August 28. The incident occurred near 440 Dixon Landing Road, where authorities responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a sport utility vehicle.

Witnesses reported that the victim approached the vehicle in a calm, non-threatening manner before the driver accelerated from a complete stop, running over the other woman. Law enforcement officers located and detained the driver, identified as Anila Baby, shortly afterward following reports of erratic driving in the surrounding neighborhood.

Baby was booked into the Santa Clara County jail system, where she remains held without bail. An arraignment has been scheduled for September 10 as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal confrontation.
