Milpitas India Community Center to Host Free Musical Ram Leela Production
A visiting cultural theater group will bring a 90-minute live performance of Ram Leela to Milpitas this autumn.
The India Community Center on Los Coches Street in Milpitas will host a free live presentation of 'Ram Leela: A Musical Reenactment' on October 17. The evening performance will bring the epic narrative to life through a blend of traditional music, narration, and dramatic theater.
The production will be staged by the visiting Ayaansh Group from Mumbai, drawing its music and poetry from the 16th-century Ramcharitmanas. Organizers noted that the community show is designed to celebrate regional cultural heritage and offer local families an accessible arts experience.
The traditional art of Ramlila was recognized globally when UNESCO added the theatrical form to its Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2008. The upcoming 90-minute show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public without admission fees.
