Mattos Elementary PTA Earns National School of Excellence Honor
Mattos Elementary is the only school in Fremont Unified School District recognized this year by the national PTA for exceptional family engagement.
The Mattos Elementary School Parent Teacher Association has received national recognition as a School of Excellence from the National PTA. Mattos is one of roughly 300 schools across the United States to earn the distinction and stands as the sole campus in the Fremont Unified School District to be honored this cycle.
The two-year designation reflects a sustained effort to build meaningful partnerships between families, educators, and community members. Mattos PTA leaders gathered detailed input from parents and staff to shape school programming, resulting in expanded science enrichment activities, positive behavioral interventions, and family engagement events.
Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan, Councilmember Kathy Kimberlin, and FUSD Trustee Sharon Coco visited the campus to present a formal certificate of recognition to Principal Sherea Westra and the school's 272-member PTA board.
