Judge Denies Challenge to Palo Alto School Board Candidate Ballot Title
A Santa Clara County judge ruled that Linda Henigin can keep her chosen ballot designation for the upcoming Palo Alto school board election.

A Santa Clara County Superior Court judge has denied a legal challenge seeking to alter how school board candidate Linda Henigin is listed on the November election ballot. A local parent filed suit claiming Henigin's self-description as a math teacher was misleading because she currently works as an elementary instructional aide and holds a general credential rather than a single-subject math authorization.
Judge Helen Williams declined to order changes after election officials noted that voter pamphlets and ballots were already finalized and queued for printing. Altering candidate descriptions at this stage would have threatened statutory deadlines for distributing vote-by-mail packets to county voters. Henigin will remain on the municipal ballot as a math teacher and mother.
