A group of local youth working with the Fremont Mayor's office internship program recently hosted a creative art and storytelling session for residents at Brookdale North Fremont, a specialized memory care community. The project was designed to spark personal recollections and foster connections across generations through hands-on painting.

High school senior Iris Zheng organized the session alongside fellow intern Arush Savla and the storytelling application Lives To Tell. Working one on one, the students encouraged seniors to share meaningful memories from their earlier years, such as growing up on a rural Nebraska farm, and guided them in translating those recollections onto canvas.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the individual paintings were arranged together into a shared mural for the facility. Interns noted that this event was the first in a planned series of creative outreach workshops aiming to bring expressive arts to senior living centers across the city.
