Fremont Robbery Suspect Arrested at Hayward Restaurant After Pursuit

A robbery investigation in Fremont led to a multi-city vehicle pursuit on August 6 before ending with an arrest inside a Hayward restaurant, according to authorities. Fremont police officers were dispatched to a grocery store within the Charter Square shopping center after employees reported a man attempting to steal merchandise and showing a handgun when staff attempted to stop him.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle parked at a shopping complex in neighboring Union City. When police attempted a traffic stop after the driver reentered the vehicle, the suspect fled onto Interstate 880 heading north toward Hayward. The pursuit ended when the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby restaurant.

Fremont officers tracked the man inside the business and took him into custody as he tried to escape through the kitchen. He was booked on multiple charges, including robbery and evading law enforcement.
