Fremont Police Launch Back-to-School Traffic Safety Campaign for August

The Fremont Police Department has launched its annual Back to School Safety Month campaign, reminding motorists across the city to reduce speeds and stay alert near local schools as classrooms prepare to reopen.

Police officials highlighted that school zones experience a significant increase in vehicular traffic, bicyclists, and pedestrians each August. Officers are urging drivers to observe posted speed limits, yield to pedestrians at all intersections and marked crosswalks, and follow designated school drop-off and pickup routines.

The department also reminded drivers of state laws regarding school buses, noting that motorists traveling in both directions must come to a complete stop when a bus extends its stop sign and flashes red lights on roads without a median divider.
