Fremont Police Department Earns Prestigious National CALEA Accreditation

The Fremont Police Department has officially achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, often regarded as the gold standard for public safety organizations. The recognition follows a rigorous two-year internal evaluation and review process guided by Deputy Chief Lance Brede.

To earn the credential, department leadership participated in formal commission hearings and proved compliance with hundreds of professional policing benchmarks. The evaluation examined administrative operations, internal accountability, and community engagement protocols.

With this milestone, Fremont becomes one of only six municipal police departments across California to hold CALEA accreditation, joining approximately 5% of law enforcement agencies worldwide that meet these national standards.
