Fremont residents can now register to participate in the 42nd annual California Coastal Cleanup Day scheduled for Saturday, September 19. The local cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to noon across five designated municipal locations, including Central Park, Crandall Creek, Roberts Avenue at Carol Avenue, Grimmer Boulevard at Blacow Road, and Blacow Road near Fremont Boulevard.

The coordinated event aims to remove litter from neighborhood channels and safeguard surrounding wildlife habitats before autumn rains wash debris into San Francisco Bay. According to city staff, volunteers are encouraged to sign up ahead of time through the municipal website and download the Clean Swell tracking app to log the items they collect.

Participants are advised to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, and pants for protection. Organizers also suggest bringing a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, work gloves, and a bucket, though loaner buckets and gloves will be made available on site for those who need them.
