Fremont Ghost House Prepares for October Opening Amid Roof Repairs
Volunteers are restoring the historic Chadbourne Carriage House and preparing sets for the annual Candlelighters haunted house.
Organizers behind the Fremont Ghost House have begun assembling sets and props for their upcoming fall run, titled Ghost Bride Manor. The annual autumn tradition, coordinated each October by the nonprofit Candlelighters, raises money to support community organizations, youth initiatives, and scholarships across the Tri-City area.
This season brings an unexpected repair project to the historic site. Fremont's Chadbourne Carriage House, which has served as the home for the Ghost House since 1969 at the Fremont Hub, is currently receiving structural roof work. Despite the renovation schedule, organizers say the October event will proceed as planned.
The group is actively seeking local volunteers aged 12 and older to help build sets, stitch costumes, assist with midway game booths, and act as costumed docents. The attraction is scheduled to welcome visitors starting October 10 through October 30.
