Former Fremont Mayor Lily Mei Appointed CEO of Newark Chamber of Commerce
Former Fremont Mayor Lily Mei has been selected to lead the Newark Chamber of Commerce, aiming to boost regional economic partnerships.

Former Fremont Mayor Lily Mei has taken on a new leadership role as president and chief executive officer of the Newark Chamber of Commerce. Mei previously completed two terms as Fremont mayor from 2016 through 2024 after serving on the Fremont City Council starting in 2014.
In her new position, Mei is launching an initial listening tour to gather input from local business owners, civic leaders, and municipal partners. Her stated objective is to foster closer commercial and civic ties between Newark, Fremont, and Union City.
Chamber officials noted that Mei's deep background in Tri-City governance will help elevate local enterprise development and expand regional business advocacy.
