Elderly E-Bike Rider Dies Days After Solo Paseo Padre Parkway Crash
An 81-year-old cyclist died in the hospital days after suffering a solo electric bicycle crash in Fremont.

Fremont police announced that an 81-year-old man died from injuries sustained in a solo electric bicycle collision that occurred late last month on Paseo Padre Parkway. Emergency personnel originally responded on August 25 to the roadway just north of Durham Road, where they discovered the cyclist lying unresponsive on the pavement.
Paramedics rushed the man to a nearby trauma center for urgent medical treatment, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on August 28. Police collision investigators examined the roadway and found no initial evidence indicating that another vehicle or pedestrian had been involved in the incident.
Attending medical staff suggested that a sudden medical emergency may have triggered the rider to lose control of the bicycle, though county coroner findings remained inconclusive. Under state reporting guidelines, the department has officially cataloged the crash as Fremont's seventh fatal roadway incident of the year.
