Ed Diolazo Named Next Pleasanton Unified Superintendent

The Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees has appointed Deputy Superintendent Ed Diolazo as the district's next superintendent under a contract running through June 2030.

Diolazo will formally assume leadership duties on January 1, succeeding Maurice Ghysels, who plans to retire at the end of December. Diolazo has served in Pleasanton school administration since 2017, initially leading student support services before overseeing all educational programming starting in 2022.

Over his nine years with the district, Diolazo helped guide the system through virtual learning programs, long-term budget stability plans, and services for students with special needs. He brings more than three decades of experience in California public education.
