Doors Open California Spotlights Historic Fremont Landmarks

History buffs and local explorers will have a chance to step inside Fremont's past during the upcoming Doors Open California event on September 12 and 13. The statewide program opens more than 75 historic and cultural sites across California to the public, offering guided tours and special access.

Fremont's participating locations are split across two neighborhoods over the weekend. On Saturday, visitors in Niles can tour the Shinn Historical Park and Arboretum, explore the California Nursery Historical Park and its historic rose garden, stop by the Niles Film Museum, and take part in a walking tour of the town. On Sunday, the focus shifts to Mission San Jose, with open doors at the Washington Township Museum of Local History, Old Mission San Jose Museum, Gardens at Palmdale, and the Olive Hyde Art Gallery.

While attendees can explore many of the individual sites independently, event passes are available through the California Preservation Foundation for $20 per adult, with free admission for children and students.
