City Reviews New Comic Book Style Mural at Future Arcade Monsters
A large black-and-white mural painted on the former Sunrise Rollerland facility has prompted an administrative design review by Citrus Heights planners.

A prominent black-and-white mural created in a comic book graphic style has recently caught the eye of residents and city staff alike along Sunrise Boulevard. The artwork adorns the side of the former Sunrise Rollerland facility, which was acquired earlier this summer by Arcade Monsters to be converted into a family arcade and entertainment venue.
Because the design includes the word Sacramento in large letters, Citrus Heights planning staff confirmed that the installation falls under municipal zoning standards for commercial signage. City officials initiated an administrative design review to determine whether the lettering complies with allowable exterior sign limits and general aesthetic guidelines.
While the exterior review proceeds, remodeling work continues inside the long-standing entertainment building located behind Sunrise Mall. The incoming business plans to retain a roller-skating floor alongside hundreds of modernized arcade games.
