Citrus Heights Marks Completion of Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets Project

Citrus Heights officials and community leaders celebrated the completion of the second phase of the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets project on Thursday. A ceremonial ribbon cutting took place near the newly installed gateway arch at the northern city limits, marking the end of construction on the corridor twelve years after the completion of the project's first phase.

The $36 million improvement initiative is the largest infrastructure project in the history of Citrus Heights. Funded through 15 separate funding sources and regional grants alongside city reserve funds, the project upgraded roadways, improved traffic signals, added continuous bike lanes, and installed new medians and landscaping.

City leaders and the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce thanked local merchants for their patience during construction. The upgraded corridor aims to revitalize local commerce while creating a safer travel corridor for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
