Citrus Heights Cat Spay and Neuter Clinic Advances with $457,000 Renovation Bid
Citrus Heights is moving ahead with plans to remodel a city building for a low-cost feline spay and neuter clinic.
Plans to open a low-cost cat spay and neuter clinic in Citrus Heights are moving closer to reality as the City Council considers a major construction contract. FieldHaven Feline Center leadership confirmed that work on the facility at 7555 Old Auburn Road is progressing after earlier delays regarding permits and heating and air conditioning upgrades.
The city purchased the property earlier this year following the closure of a longtime local preschool. The proposed $457,000 contract with American River Construction, Inc. covers required interior renovations, including updated plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, new flooring, and an accessible restroom.
Once remodeling is complete, FieldHaven will lease the space to provide affordable veterinary care and population control services for cats. A neighboring building on the parcel is also scheduled for future conversion into a municipal animal care center.
