Annual Garin Apple Festival Celebrates Historic Harvest in Hayward

The East Bay Regional Park District hosts its yearly apple tasting and cider pressing event.

The East Bay Regional Park District is holding its annual Garin Apple Festival at Garin Regional Park in the Hayward hills. Centered around the historic Garin Red Barn Visitor Center, the festival highlights the area's agricultural past with tours of the heritage orchard and hands-on demonstrations.

Visitors can sample antique apple varieties grown in the park's historic orchard, watch antique cider presses in action, and listen to live acoustic music. The park visitor center also features preserved blacksmith tools and vintage farm machinery that illustrate early ranching life in southern Alameda County.

Local food trucks and family-friendly activity stations will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the park and festival is free of charge, with standard regional park parking fees applying at the gate.
