Came in last week and who I believe was the shop owner was amazing. Drove up for a day trip on my birthday to knock out a bucket list river and it couldn’t have been better after talking with The Ted Fay Fly Shop. Thank you! Will be seeing you guys before the summer is over with.

These guys are great. Corey pulled out a map and helped me choose a few good spots to check out and gave advice on a few different flies to use. Bob came in and pointed out that my 5 year olds shoes were on backwards and spent the time to help him switch them back. Very friendly environment and their advice helped me land a McCloud River Red Band (at least that’s what I’m calling it). Couldn’t say enough good things. This is a what a fly shop should be. Thanks guys.

Met the new owners and talked fly lines for a bit, wanted to add distance to my cast. Both are both passionate and knowledgeable about the sport. Happy to say, once I slowed my stroke with the new line, I was hitting 87’ consistently. A little better timing on the forward haul and I’ll hit 95’ That’s where the big trout hang. Precisely at 95’. 96’ is close but a little too long. 94’? I might as well pack up and go home.

Called into the shop late one afternoon knowing I wouldn’t make it before they closed. Not only did the guy working the phone give me all the info I needed to be successful on the McCloud, fly recommendations etc. he put me on to one of the most magical spots/camp ground I’ve ever had the pleasure of fishing. The level of stoke he had is exactly what makes fly fishing so special. Don’t remember his name sadly.

I try to stop here every time I'm up in Dunsmuir. Ted is an extremely nice guy and he will help you figure out what flys/nymphs you need or want. He is not snobby/cocky like in other fly shops I've been to. Very nice selection of flys and gear. Prices are moderate (as to be expected). Hopefully he stays in business for years to come!
