Davis Tire Pros

As a Davis local I am a bit disappointed. First I went to Davis tire pros to install some lug nuts, which went relatively ok with the exception of one being chipped during the process due to lack of experience. I understood and they did make it right by buying an extra set then replacing it. My problem comes a few weeks later, another shop damages some of my log nuts (which I know by now to get better quality ones, regardless, they won’t be damaged by someone who knows what they are doing). Since I know they have some extra ones from the set they had to purchase to replace mine- mind you, they kept my damaged lug nuts too. The problem is that when I go to replace 5 out of the 20 lug nuts (as only one wheel needed them) they tried to charge me $100? The set costs $50 shipped, they’d be charging me twice the cost of a full set to replace 5, which they only have due to their initial mistake (which I admit they did make up for). I said that was way too high, they came down to $67, still way too high imo so they said $55. I had to walk out, I can get a better quality set for $80-$100 and install them in 5 minutes with some homies here in town. My point would be, if it was so easy to go down to $55 (still beyond the cost of the entire set) why start at $100? did they make to make back the money they lost due to their initial mistake? I don’t know, but unfortunately after two negative experiences I just know I won’t have a third. ANOTHER ONE: My father stopped by a couple of years ago and they wanted to charge him for two new rear tires as they said one had a nail too close to the edge- and they “had to be even”. Guess what, another shop patched it for free and that tire lasted until the end of its lifetime with that vehicle. This is not against anyone in particular or the employees there, but man something with the communication and management just isn’t right. It felt like I was about to get scammed had I not known better, made me wonder how many local UC Davis students or ignorant individuals would just say yes to the suggestions and way out of proportion prices they gave, not just to me, but my father as well. Going back to Woodland from now on.

I've had a few tire changes here. The service and the price is decent. I remember one tire repair many years ago, I came with piece of glass in my tire and the staff repaired it free of cost. That was pretty nice of them. Overall, the waits aren't that long and if you don't mind dropping off the car, they usually hit their target times. For new tires, Costco in Woodland is the most cost efficient, but if you need a fast tire repair or some minor car fixes. I would recommend Davis Tire Pros on 5th street. 2026, I recently had 2 tires fixed here and it was $36 each, so not bad! Good luck!
