I had a great stay at the wayfinder. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, making it a great base for exploring the Eastern Sierra. The complimentary breakfast was solid, and the happy hour was a nice bonus after a day of hiking and sightseeing. What really made the property stand out, though, was the beautiful creekside seating area with gas fireplaces. It was a relaxing place to unwind in the evening. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, even offering to store my bags when I needed a place to keep them before check-in. The location is also excellent, within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and just about everything you’d want to visit in Bishop, with a pleasant park right across the street. After looking at the other options in town, this is easily the best hotel in Bishop, and I would happily stay here again.

I stayed at the Wayfinder a couple of nights this past week, and was impressed by the quality of the experience. Rooms were large with nice outdoorsy interiors. Having Bishop Creek flow among the buildings was really cool. I enjoyed being able to purchase a drink at the bar, which was located right next to the creek. Breakfast was very good too.

One star. I had a reservation, but I never even set foot on the property. Our upcoming trip to the area was disrupted by the Rock Fire in Inyo County, forcing us to change our travel plans. Before booking, travelers should understand that Wayfinder appears to enforce its cancellation policy even when a major wildfire prevents the original trip from taking place. The hotel offered to convert my one night reservation into a credit, but only if I selected and confirmed new travel dates within 48 hours. In my view, that is not a reasonable accommodation. When travel is unexpectedly disrupted by a natural disaster, it can take weeks or months to determine when a replacement trip will be possible. A more customer-friendly approach would be to issue a credit valid for 6–12 months and allow guests to book new dates when their plans are finalized. We also discussed moving the reservation forward by one night to accommodate our revised itinerary. While I understand that weekend rates are higher, the additional cost would have been several hundred dollars, making that option impractical. As a result, I lost the cost of one night's stay and will not be booking with Wayfinder in the future. This was my first experience with the company, and unfortunately it left me with the impression that there is little flexibility for guests facing extraordinary circumstances beyond their control. Management already has my contact information. I hope you'll reconsider and issue a credit that can be used within the next year, rather than requiring a new reservation to be booked within 48 hours.

This place absolutely does not feel or look like a hotel. Fantastic location, walking distance to many local eateries. Complimentary breakfast and a nice place to decompress in the evening located off to the side of the lobby. Dog friendly. Quiet. Rooms are very nice, well equipped. We booked one facing the creek with a patio and it was just perfect. Even if we didn’t go outside we could have the sliding door open to hear all the sounds. Raven (front desk) was welcoming and very helpful. We would LOVE to stay here again.

Facilities were nice and service at the front desk was friendly as expected. However, the main reason we chose this hotel outside of a name branded hotel was we really wanted a different experience and were drawn to the free breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, their breakfast buffet was such a let down. Items were unstocked, some food was cold, and food in chaffing dishes had water inside the dish itself (i.e. potatoes were sitting in pools of water). As other hotels, you make the waffles yourself. I was really appalled to find that the waffle batter was sour and had gone bad. I only found this out because I had tested it after cooking it, and before handing it to my child. I cannot even fathom what would have happened if my child ate all of it not recognizing something was wrong with it- especially because it was smothered with syrup. It could have made our five hour travel time horrible especially since this hotel is surrounded by desert. Unfortunately, we had to leave and purchase breakfast elsewhere which I was really hoping to avoid- especially since we were traveling. A nice, sit down meal is what we hoped for. I have submitted a survey AND filled out a contact form via their website prior to posting this review to see if we could handle this matter privately, but no one has contacted me as of yet. I really wanted to love this hotel! (Especially since it was one of my first times taking my family outside of corporate hotels). But I guess I have learned my lesson!
