Warm Springs BART Shutdown This Weekend: What Fremont Riders Need to Know

BART riders in Fremont should plan for a major service interruption this weekend. On Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, there will be no BART train service between Union City and Warm Springs/South Fremont stations while crews complete track work near Fremont Station.

Free buses will replace trains

BART says free AC Transit buses will carry passengers between Union City, Fremont, and Warm Springs/South Fremont during the shutdown. Riders traveling through the affected area should allow extra time, with delays expected to add roughly 30 to 40 minutes to some trips.

There will be two types of replacement buses:

  • Direct buses between Union City and Warm Springs/South Fremont
  • Buses that also stop at Fremont Station

Fremont Station will remain open for replacement buses, but trains will not stop there during the shutdown.

Green Line service will also be suspended

The weekend construction will also mean no Green Line service between Daly City and Berryessa/North San Jose. BART will continue running Orange Line trains between Warm Springs/South Fremont and Berryessa/North San Jose, with some schedule changes.

Passengers traveling toward San Francisco from the South Bay may need to use the replacement buses and make additional transfers. BART recommends checking its Trip Planner before leaving because the weekend schedules have been adjusted for the construction.

Why is BART shutting down the tracks?

Crews are replacing an interlocking near Fremont Station. An interlocking is a section of track infrastructure that allows trains to safely switch from one track or route to another. BART says the project is part of ongoing work to improve the safety and reliability of the system.
