Fremont Police Investigate Home Burglary After Suspect Enters Through Child’s Bedroom Window

A residential burglary in Fremont is under investigation after police say someone entered a family’s home through a child’s bedroom window while children were inside.

The incident occurred on July 25 in the Village Common area of Fremont and was reported publicly in early August. According to reporting based on information from the Fremont Police Department, the suspect removed a screen from a bedroom window and used the opening to enter the home.

What makes the case particularly unsettling is that children were reportedly inside the residence when the person entered.

The children apparently did not realize that someone had broken into the home while it was happening. The burglary was discovered later when their mother returned from work and found that the bedroom had been ransacked.

Several items were reported missing from the residence, although details about what was taken were not publicly specified in the initial report.

Fremont Police have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the burglary. At the time of the report, a description of the person responsible had not been publicly released.

The department's dispatch center handles calls for both Fremont and Union City and averages more than 800 phone calls per day, according to Fremont Police.

An incident involving someone entering a home while children are present is understandably concerning.

At the same time, one burglary should not be interpreted as evidence of a broader crime trend without supporting data.
