Danville’s Scarecrow Stroll Returns October 1 With More Than 50 Downtown Displays

Downtown Danville is getting ready for one of its most visible fall traditions: the Scarecrow Stroll returns October 1, with more than 50 businesses expected to create storefront displays throughout the downtown area.

The Town of Danville says the displays will remain up through November 1. Visitors will be able to walk through downtown, look for participating businesses and vote for their favorite scarecrow while also exploring nearby shops and restaurants.

The Scarecrow Stroll is part of a broader seasonal push called “Fall into Danville,” a new online guide that brings together upcoming activities, community events, programs and other things to do around town. The Town says the guide is intended to make it easier for residents and visitors to see what is happening now and plan for the weeks ahead.

The timing makes the stroll an easy activity for families, shoppers and anyone looking for a reason to spend time downtown during October. Because the displays are spread across participating storefronts, there is no single start time or one-day window to catch them.

That also gives local businesses a chance to take part in a town-wide seasonal event while drawing more foot traffic through the downtown commercial district. Visitors can combine the stroll with dining, shopping or other fall activities rather than treating it as a stand-alone event.

For residents who want to participate, the key dates are October 1 through November 1. The Town’s fall guide will continue to be updated with activities for families, adults, seniors, arts and theater audiences and other community interests throughout the season.
